I need a MOWERCISER!!!

I was reading an on-line newsletter for XC skiing and came across an article for the mowerciser! Check it out.

I'm going to order one and get my upper body fit for those uphill sprints. If anyone wants to mow my lawn and get a workout, you are more than welcome.

Yesterday I snuck out of work to ride some hills. I climbed up Old Sauk Pass (a 1k climb of about 8%) and felt great and decided to do Cleveland (400 meters at 20%) and dang I was crawling up that thing. I was a little bummed until I realized I had climbed it in the 21...DOH!! Must get this bike shifting thing resolved!

At least I know I can climb in too big a gear??

In other news I chatted via email with Jamie yesterday. She'll be home next month. Time for a cowgirl homecoming!!!

Betsy, I will call you and sorry we keep missing each other. Tricia, same...natty, eikey, Jules and Anna, be good and we'll all talk soon.

Would this Suprise You?

Well Since I am on Spring Break now--I thought it would be a good time do some spring cleaning. I went through all my clothes and decided to get rid of the ones I dont need/wear anymore. Here is what that resulted in: 4 1/2 garbage bags going to GoodWill! I can tell you right now my suitcase is going to be lighter!

Scion Siting--I punched myself!!

So I saw THREE Scions today. Once while riding my bike but there was no one to smack so I smacked myself. Then I saw two more later in the day. For those I just imagined I smacked Trish and Natalie, who have whacked me more times that I can remember.

Um. It was a slow day. Where is everyone??? Send some news!

My news: I made more Anzac bikkies. This time I put some peanut butter and flax seed in them. Palms, by the time you get here you won't recognize your homeland cookie.

Next up I'm going to work on making Lamington cake. Another Aussie creation that Ron (our other Aussie Cowgirl's hubbie)told me about. Stay tuned for more baking adventures from Cowgirl HQ. Ciao,
dq
PS: Here's a photo for you to look at. It really does not pertain to anything but I took this photo on my way home from the race last Saturday. It'll likely be the subject of a watercolor soon...

80 Degrees & Sunny...hello bad tan lines

So Natalie, myself and Rachel went to Wrightstown (near Green Bay) for a time trial last weekend. It was so warm I rode only in a skinsuit--no undershirt, arm warmers and unfortunately, no sun screen. I got a little pink but no big deal. I got a start on my racing stripes on my arms. (that's what you get when you move your jersey up and down everyday so you get a striped affect).

Natty kept her lead on the Wisconsin Cup series by charging into first, I was 4th and Rachel 5th. The course was fantastic. Rolling hills and a little bit of wind. I heard one guy crashed in a pothole. Ow.

After the TT we rode to cool down and Rachel took the town sign. I was wondering why she seemed to be suddenly picking up the pace on a cool down ride? DOH!! Natty and I were chatting away and I when I saw the town sign I said "oh rats...this ought to be a good victory salute." But, Eikey was modest and didn't even do her salute..which is a smart one. For the record though, Eikey got the only sprint of the day and there were no Scion sitings to speak of.

Until yesterday. I went out for coffee with my friend Kiwi Mike (he's from New Zealand) and as we were driving downtown I saw a black Scion and yelled "SCION" and punched him. He laughed--'cause he's polite-- but he most definitely had a funny look on his face. Like "why did you just smack me?" I explained the object of the game to him and I think he got it...or maybe he was just being polite.

Anyhoo, that's the news from here. Hope everyone had a nice, candy filled easter.

Baseball Sized Hail

This is my camera's picture of "golf ball to base ball sized hail." We were just sitting on the couch, and all of a sudden it sounded like someone was pelting baseballs onto the roof. It was some pretty amazing hail. I'm glad I wasn't riding!

Another change o pace....

I took my video camera to the race on Sunday and JT took video, but we didn't get any still photos.I was bored tonight and since I didn't have any race photos to post of the team's first Wisco win of the year, I thought I'd put up a photo of my no. 2 cat, Tippy.

Isn't she cute? Just after she licked this leg she fell off the bed. That's my tippycat.

Big ole Easter holiday coming up and you know what that means?! This cat's going to the Church of the Long Ride. Yesereee, I'm heading to the town of Ridgeway on Sunday, which is about 20 minutes west of Blue Mounds which all of you will remember from our near-epic ride of two weeks ago. I have a friend who lives there and she said she'd have coffee and jelly beans for me if I stopped.

What are you all doing for Easter??
love and hugs,

I miss the team!!

For an adrenaline junky, I have to say today was tough. No cowgirls in the house, no piles in the dining room and no exploded backpacks anywhere. It's just not the same without you all.

Speaking of explosions, can anyone claim this thing? I found it hanging in the basement. Somehow the 3 cm of padding makes me think it belongs to Palms?

I found Tricia's recipe for Anzac bikkies and have a batch in the oven right now. I guess I might feel a little bad for eating them all myself, but only for 3 seconds.

I got to talk to Betsy tonight and we had some good laughs about the weekend. The photo shoot was the best yet and I can't wait to see those photos. I think we're in for a really good season

Gotta go...my bikkies are done!---dq

From pretty - to pretty dirty.

What a weekend. Life with the cowgirls is awesome. From getting all dolled up at the photo shoot, to eating sand from Trisha's wheel - - couldn't have been better.

Thanks for hosting us all Rebecca. The food, company, and jokes were spactacular.

Miss ya all already!

This is for you, Lala!

So the team had its photo shoot yesterday and Laura was in the photo. More of those photos to follow but in the short run, none of us could stand the idea of her not being in the team photo so she is in there...in representative form.

This morning Tricia was having coffee with Laura. Here they are chatting:

Here's a close up of Laura

So, Lala, you're here. We love ya tons...can't wait to see you again and we're all proud of you for taking time to heal the injuries.
cheerios for now, dq and the herd...
