Women of the herd: Behold the first race report of 2007!
Is there a prize for getting to the
starting line first?
Nah, didn’t think so…
A triathlete friend of mine convinced me to sign up for an indoor Computrainer time trial at a coaching facility south of Madison. In spite of the urging from the folks at Active.com to make sure I brought my sunscreen, sunglasses, and hat, overwhelming exposure to the sun’s rays did not prove to be a factor—although, with insufficient fans to cover the 4 Computrainers, it did get very hot very quickly. My avatar up on the screen had a much nicer looking butt than I do, so that was a bit demoralizing. The rolling 10K course also felt suspiciously slow for the simulated grades they were claiming. My average speed was nowhere near where I’d like to see it, and I was not able to get up to my maximum heartrate (at least…I hope that wasn’t my max!), which was supposed to be the whole point of this exercise. Finally, as I neared the finish, this cow avatar was standing on the road in front of me. I thought I was going to smash into it (you can’t steer on these darn simulators!), so I slowed up a bit, but then it stepped aside at the last moment. Thankfully, the race ended before I succumbed to heat exhaustion or wandering cattle, and apparently I set a new record for the women (at this small coaching facility—no biggie).
Looking forward to seeing the local members of the herd at tomorrow’s movie night!

Nice going Julie! A win is a win...so way to start off the season on a positive note. And your butt is really cute. I can say that 'cause I'm your teammate!
Did I ever tell you how funny this cow head on the trophy is??
